Who are you and have you done to the real Dr.Zoidberg? I don’t see the words “Toyota” and/or “Celica” anywhere in this post.

Lawn mowers. The biggest waist of money ever. It does one damn job, and that’s all. It has a 5HP or more engine up front, but it can’t blow leaves, or snow, can’t grind up branches into mulch. Nothing but cut grass. Shit, I have a electric leaf blower that can at least mulch leaves and act as a vacuum as well. Can’t someone make a lawn mower with a power take off and some useful accessories? That would be real handy. Oh, and make it not cost $3,000.

Sorry, shouldn’t rant like that. Must be the 5" of snow that came down today. You purchased a very nice mower. Enjoy.

I use our mower to do all those things. It won’t bag the leaves, but with some careful planning, I get everything moved/blown into one large pile and rake it from there.

There are lots of dedicated machines, but the most single purpose one in my mind is an edger. I still want one. The results from a weed eater just aren't. as crisp.

Yeah, I use my mower to blow the leaves into a pile, then rake them onto a tarp to bring them to the curb for the city to pick up. It just seems a waste of a good engine for it to be really useful for one thing. The Troy-Bilt flex unit someone posted seems a step in the right direction, with the motor unit costing about $300-$400, then accessories, mower/snow blower/leaf blower/power washer, etc. from $200-$400 as well. So, for about $1,200 or so, you could have a mower, leaf & snow blower, with the ability to add more as needed. Still, the reviews were mixed, with the majority stating it is a big, heavy unit, and a bit cumbersome as well. If it keeps in production, maybe it will get better & smaller as it goes along.

That’s the problem with being a jack of all trades - it can do all the jobs, but it can’t do them as efficiently or precisely and is more awkward than a dedicated tool. I find that a dedicated tool is usually the better tool for the job. I reminded myself just last night by trying to use a screwdriver handle as an impromptu hammer.
